Anja Carr (b. 1985, Bergen, NO) transforms bodies, faces, toys and food in a theatrical, abject and colorful world of photography, sculpture, installation and self-invented techniques. Her 30+ solo exhibitions include galleries in Los Angeles, London, Stockholm and Berlin and she has performed in Amsterdam, London, New York, Miami, Paris etc. 60+ group exhibitions include Riga City Exhibition Hall (Riga), Cankarjev dom (Ljubljana), Somerset House (London) and the Tadeusz Kantor Museum (Kraków). Her work is currently on view at Trondheim kunstmuseum. Next solo exhibitions this year will take place at the Art Museum Nord-Trøndelag (NO) and Buer Gallery, Oslo (NO). Carr’s exhibition Moored consisted of two large-scale sculptures, produced especially for GK's exhibition space, moored to each of the two supporting columns. Like many of Carr's earlier works, they appeared to be oversized figures from a children's room, thrust into an adult sphere, perhaps more distinctly than ever, with fishnet stockings they seem to have put on themselves with their six fingers and accessory they have literally outgrown. Or could they be undiscovered, colorful creatures from the depths of the sea, stuck in netting and plastic waste, forcing their bodies into new shapes?

The exhibition was supported by Regional project funds for visual arts, Contemporary Art Centres in Norway
